Virgin Galactic Accredited Space Agent
Virgin Galactic is the world's first spaceline, giving you the groundbreaking opportunity to become one of the first ever non-professional astronauts.  Virgin Galactic will own and operate its privately built spaceships, modelled on the remarkable, history-making SpaceShipOne. Bookings of these historic flights are exclusively limited to Virtuoso-appointed, Virgin Galactic-trained, Accredited Space Agents. I am proud be among that very select group of Virtuoso's elite members (only 5 in Canada) to be entrusted with these reservations.

Virgin's vast experience in aviation, adventure, luxury travel and cutting-edge design combined with the unique technology developed by Burt Rutan will ensure an unforgettable experience unlike any other available to mankind. With safety at the forefront, VG's unique spacecraft is being designed at Rutan's base in Mojave, California alongside a concerted research and development program. It is these spaceships that will allow affordable sub-orbital space tourism for the first time in the history of the universe!

Three successful manned flights have already taken place with SpaceShipOne, to claim the Ansari X-Prize on October 4th, 2004. SpaceShipOne's successful space flights demonstrated the effectiveness of the new design and technology employed by Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites. Such advances included carbon composite materials, a hybrid rocket motor, and the now widely celebrated wing feathering technique for re-entry.

SpaceShipTwo (SS2)is now being designed, to carry two pilots, six passengers, and scientific payloads.

Flights will begin in late 2009 or early 2010, each carrying 6 passengers who will have each received three days of training at Virgin Galactic facilities.

The flight
The spaceship hitches a ride up to around 50,000 feet attached to a specially designed carrier aircraft, ‘the mothership'. Once at 50,000 feet, the spaceship is released from the mothership and ignites its hybrid rocket.

The spaceship then begins a climb from 50,000 feet to over 360,000 feet. This climb takes about 90 seconds and will reach a speed of just over 3 times the speed of sound. Shortly before the apogee (maximum altitude - about 110 miles above the earth's surface) of its flight path, the spaceship feathers (folds its wings) in preparation for re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. drawn by the Earth's gravitational pull. For about four minutes, the passengers will leave their seats and experience weightlessness and the incomparable view of Earth from space.

As the spaceship meets the resistance of the upper atmosphere, the feathered wings act as air brakes, safely positioning and decelerating the spaceship allowing for a carefree re-entry into the earths atmosphere. At approximately 60,000 feet, the spaceship's wings are re-configured into their original position allowing for an unpowered (glide) landing back at the spaceport.

The experience
The total experience is much more than the fight itself. Passengers are flown to the space centre (initially in the Mohave Desert, California, but soon from the new purpose-built Spaceport America, White Sands, New Mexico). Luxury accommodation and meals are included.

Three days of training will ensure that all passengers are fit and ready for the experience of a lifetime. G-force training on the centrifuge and thorough briefings on all steps of the flight process will be conducted.

The goal is to provide you with the most incredible experience of your life. The trip will be intense, approaching sensory overload and the more that can be simulated beforehand, the better the real thing will be! Learning how to make the most of your time in micro gravity and tips on how to be most comfortable in macro gravity will form an integral part of your experience. Availability will also be made for you to learn as much (or as little) as you like about the spaceship, and spaceflight in general.

At the concusion of the flight, a gala reception accompanies the awarding of your astronaut's wings, as you join the elite group of less than 1000 humans who have ever been in space.

The cost
All passengers pay the same: USD200,000. Priority is given to the amount of deposit that is given at the time of booking. Full prepayment secured the first 100 seats (and there is a waiting list available). Currently, there are still seats from 170 to 500 available for a deposit of USD100,000 to USD175,000. Deposits as little as USD20,000 will secure your reservation to be among next 500.

All deposits are fully refundable up to the date that flight schedules are confirmed, and cancellations can be made for any reason.
