The Confidante
Your Source for What's New in Luxury Travel
November 2005

This edition of The Confidante marks a turning point in my travel career. As a newly independent consultant, I am now able to offer you enhanced access, and concentrate full time on developing exciting and unique travel experiences for my clients, without the responsibilities of corporate administration.

Later this month I'll be visiting Northern Italy, catching a ride on the Orient-Express, and attending the World Travel Mart in London - the largest travel expo in the world.

I look forward to sharing a lifetime of travel with you!

  • Independent Contractor - what's it mean?

An "Independent Contractor" - as I now am - is not completely independent. By Canadian law, anyone who sells or tickets travel must do so through an IATA-appointed agency, and that agency must be fully insured and its clients protected by mandatory membership in TICO (the Travel Industry Council of Ontario). By my association with Navigant Luxury Vacations, my clients have the assurance and protection not only of these governing bodies, but also of Navigant, the second largest travel management services provider in North America. NLV is also a Member Agency of the Virtuoso network, and is ISO-9001:2000 Certified.

Independent means that, while I still have a desk and backup/support staff at Navigant Luxury Vacations, I work mainly from my home office, or from anywhere. My phone is forwarded to wherever I am. This means increased accessibility but you can rest assured that quality backup is there if required.

And being independent means I have my own Web site, at
www.RogerKershaw.com. Visit it often for travel suggestions, news and resources.

Call me today! Let's travel together tomorrow!

Hotels - hot, hip and happenin'!

Your Confidante is always working to ensure that you are at the cutting edge of what's new in hotels. That the end, I am pleased to introduce ...

Bhutan is the new Nepal. Aman philosophy and style arrive in this atmospheric mountain kingdom near India, bringing a perfect complement with the color and intensity of its larger neighbor. Virtuoso offers you complimentary transfers and one excursion for two to Tigers’ Nest. Web site

Finally! The super luxurious Aman Resorts open their first property in the Caribbean, in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Your Virtuoso value-add includes one category upgrade (subject to availability), Continental breakfast daily for two and one complimentary lunch for two. Web site

    Amalfi Hotel
Small and boutique are not usually associated with the hotel scene in Chicago. Sleek and surprising, the Amalfi Hotel proves that bigger is not always better. Well sited just west of Michigan Ave and close to the action of River North. Web site

    Palazzo Failla
Sicilian history and old traditions here are an extra reason why a visit to Modica should not be missed. Not only did this town fascinate poets and travellers in the past but still today it represents one of the most precious pearls of Sicily. Web site

    Membership has its benefits

My new association with Navigant Luxury Vacations, a Virtuoso Member Travel Agency, allows me to offer many additional Virtuoso benefits to my clients, including complimentary Voyager Club membership, special hotel rates and upgrades, and exclusive travel experiences.

For example, when you stay in a Virtuoso-affiliated hotel or resort, you receive benefits that may include a category upgrade, complimentary transfers or complimentary breakfast.

And when you book a specific sailing with a Virtuoso-affiliated cruise line, you receive
    • private, specially-arranged shore events
    • a personable Voyager Club host
    • a private cocktail reception
    • special Virtuoso Voyager Club pricing.
